With a density of 22.4g/cm3, its clarified aqueous solution is a colorless odorless alkaline transparent liquid with a PH value of 12.4.
As a filler, calcium hydroxide can increase the volume of rubber products and reduce the use of rubber or synthetic rubber, thereby saving production costs. At the same time, it has good dispersion in light-colored fillers, can be mixed with rubber in any proportion, and can also be mixed with other additives. In the formulation of rubber products, the change of calcium hydroxide addition ratio will affect the vulcanization system of rubber, help to optimize the vulcanization process of rubber, and make rubber products obtain better comprehensive properties.
After adding calcium hydroxide, the thermal conductivity of rubber will be improved, which is conducive to the heat dissipation of rubber products during use, to avoid affecting the performance or shortening the service life due to high temperature.
PVC is easy to decompose and release hydrogen chloride (HCl) by heat during processing and use, and calcium hydroxide is alkaline and can react with HCl to eliminate the autocatalytic effect of HCl on PVC degradation process, play a certain heat stabilization role, and extend the service life of PVC.
Calcium hydroxide can generate water when heated, water evaporation heat absorption can play a cooling role, while water vapor can also dilute the concentration of flammable gas and oxygen, play the effect of oxygen resistance and flame retardant, improve the flame retardant performance of PVC.
Similar to in rubber, calcium hydroxide can improve the strength, toughness and other mechanical properties of PVC to a certain extent, for example, in the production of PVC gloves, adding calcium hydroxide can improve the toughness and strength of gloves.
